Karo Carolina Salinas is an ancestral medicine practitioner, educator and interpreter devoted to collective recovery of the Sacred Self. Their first teacher is the Land and Cosmos. Many years of folk medicine making, growing food, and spiritual fasting, inform their embodied research of elemental relationships expressed through physical and energetic realms. Karo weaves relational coherence between diverse cultural traditions and ways of knowing.
Their practice began in early life; tending the roots of emotional and physical ailments, listening to the guidance of plants and dream cognition. This led them to study the development of consciousness, transcendent states, and the ancient roots of what are now popularly referred to as somatics and integration. In 2014 they earned a BSc. in Physiology and Health, with a specialty in Ayurveda. Volunteer work, independent research, academic education, and rigorous spiritual fasting, illuminate Karo’s approach to mind-body-spirit centering and cultural work.
As a Healing Justice Facilitator they are dedicated to stewarding pathways of access for culturally attuned healing. They connect groups to Indigenous led ceremonies in Peru. They prepare individuals of all backgrounds for relational work with plant spirit medicine. Through ceremony and earth-based ritual, Karo guides people towards remembrance, deeper integration, and healing across generations.
Currently they are in longterm apprenticeship with their Maya K’iche Maestra, renowned fire ceremony holder and calendar keeper, whom they serve as a culturally designated translator. Karo has facilitated hundreds of ancestral healing ceremonies and completed many traditional Shipibo dietas under the guidance of their Shipibo Konibo Maestro, who carries more than 45 years of experience with ancestral Amazonian medicine as an Onanya.
Karo is from the diaspora of the Nic’Anahuac Nation; a descendant of the original people of Nicaragua whose origins are traced to the greater Maya society. In service to the prophecy of The Eagle and The Condor - and the Great Remembrance, Karo’s work is an offering to enliven animistic wisdom, integrate the subconscious, and restore sensual connections with the Earth and to each other.
